Mrs LANGMAN, wife of Mr Richard LANGMAN, carrier, residing at St Ann's Chapel, narrowly escaped drowning in the canal at Gunnislake on Tuesday. Attempting to pick some blackberries by the side of the canal, she lost her footing and fell in. Her screams attracted the attention of neighbours and Mrs STREET and Mrs PENDRY held her up until two men, Messrs SHORT and HUGO, arrived and pulled her out.
